Bus travel is obviously becoming increasingly "dangerous", given the recent incidence of violence on board buses. This makes PICKUPPAL a much safer alternative, does it not? On a more serious note, however, it would be criminal to snuff out an attempt such as this to lessen our ecological footprint by making our air cleaner and reducing the amount of fuel consumed. |

I've been "test driving" a 'Rural Ride Share' idea during the election and I think PickupPal could be a useful model for our rural area. |

It should not be illegal improve the earth and leave it a better place for our children. When the TTC was down, you stopped and picked someone up. When you go to work, you pick up your neighbor across the street. We are all neighbors on this planet and what we do affects us all. We need to support any efforts to reduce the toxins we are putting in the air that our children breath. We need to support anything that brings us closer together as human beings. We need to support things that have a greater good for the world and humanity. We cannot solve world peace with the signature on a piece of paper but we can create more environments for us to connect as human beings and hopefully one day this will bring us closer to understanding one another and working towards a common goal. thank you for your time and consideration. sincerely elijah brown |

Please allow this service to continue to exist so that we may work towards lowering our carbon footprint. |

If you do not act to ensure that practical, eco-friendly alternatives to single-occupant cars are available I will be voting for a party that can. |

Pickup Pal is great for rural Canadians like me. We dont have public transit here, and the bus vand train schedules are not always convenient, (government sponsored monopolies can also cause problems, should that company go on strike...) also some highways are not on a bus route. Canadians should be able to choose the best transportation options for themselves. Please dont shut down pickup-pal!!! |

Buses are great, but we need Pick-Up Pal too because it is encouraging people to share rather than taking two or even three cars. It also makes sense since buses do not service all areas. |

Forbidding people to provide "rides" to each other is such a ridiculous notion it does not even deserve consideration. If there are legal reasons that suggest rideshare is illegitimate or otherwise unsafe-- they are unjust. People will always be doing this, through facebook or other means. The only difference between the rideshare site and facebook is that facebook serves many purposes and rideshare serves one. People use their voices to arrange rides for each other too. Does this mean people shouldn't be allowed to talk? Tell the bus company to go eat a dick. |

As an Ontarian and Canadian citizen living in a mid-sized city the US, I've seen how ride-sharing programs do a lot to help ease congestion and the attendant air pollution. Given the state of fuel prices and concerns over pollution's effects on the environment, I would find it troubling if the government, which has a direct say over this policy, were to allow a private interest to effectively shut down this ride-sharing service. Government should not be in the business of propping up an outdated business model. Technology has facilitated the ability of people to make connections when they have a common interest. If anything, I believe the government should be fostering this type of initiative, given the obvious benefits it can provide. |

I have been car pooling for over 2 months and I believe that allowing citzens the opportunity will drive significant benifits. Over this time I've consumed less fuel, created less road congestion, reduced my carbon foot and saved some money on the price of fuel which has significantly impacted my budget. |

This is very bad - we have a government who claim they want to reduce emissions on one hand, and doesn't protect those who take action to reduce emissions on the other. Fix this problem, fast. |

Please note that PickupPal is an organization that offers absolutely free service designed to benefit our community and it functions very well. Unfortunately, Canada's infrastructure is not well establish to meet its growing population. Especially, if compared to most European countries, it is not efficient and economic. Community is working towards somehow solving the problem of public transportation in Canada although, as it seems, our government is not interested in it. Hopefully, it will hear us and will be able to put itself in our position to understand the need of such organization as PickupPal and will make the right decision for its people. |

Seriously! What's next? I thought the idea was to move forward, not take a step back. If anything, the gov't should be initializing other programs with benefits like PickupPal. Wake up and smell the CO2 emissions! |

In the 1990s, I used "Allostop" (a Quebec-based ride-sharing company that was later shut out of Ontario by the bus companies) and found it an excellent way to meet people, and to share a resource (empty seats in my car) that would otherwise be wasted. Especially in this age of rising fuel prices, it boggles my mind that this sort of efficiency should be illegal. Please legalize ride-sharing. |

The fact that the current Act basically says that I cannot even pick up my wife at the airport without breaking the law, means that the current Act is flawed. PickupPal saves money, energy and time. Things we're running out of. |
